About us

The Marks 4 Training Centre, success story is the result of effective collaboration between Enterprise & Research at Staffordshire University and Director, María de Marks.

  

Marks 4 Training is a Community Interest Company dedicated to raising skills, aspirations and job prospects amongst the unemployed and disadvantaged. Based at the  Staffordshire University Business Village, the company has strong links with other training providers, employment agencies and the University.

 

At the Centre, we find diversity, and the creativity we bring, is vital to our success. Our commitment in the provision of personalised services is the opening of opportunities to our apprentices and trainees to achieve their career goals.

 

Our directors, managers and trainers have spent most of their professional careers involved with the region, recognising the importance and potential of Staffordshire and the community they serve, Stoke-on-Trent.

Our Business Training Centre recognises that individuals, companies and people's skills are key ingredients in the design of business, sustainable development, economy and well-being of communities.

 

We know that this approach is vital to enhance employment opportunities in Staffordshire. Our centre works towards success and achievement by addressing the need of up-to-date skills and qualifications of people from Stoke-on-Trent.

 

Our aims and objectives

Our aims and objectives are to create opportunities for people in the community and aid those who have recently become unemployed with new, up-to-date skills in business with the prospect of self-employment thus increasing the competitiveness of the region while widening the skill base.

 

In order to carry out this mission, the Centre will always aim to: 

  • Develop and maintain an understanding 

              of the needs of its customers, users

              and potential users and respond to   

              them.

 

  • Build the necessary training services and

              provide access to them via the most up-

              to-date learning technology.

 

  • Develop appropriate skills and motivate

              staff at all levels.

 

  • Ensure financial viability of the centre.

 

  • Foster excellent relationships with other

              training and language bodies, firms,

              schools, colleges and universities.

 

  • Co-operate with other training centres

              within the region and to exploit in all

              areas the potential of new technology in

              order to achieve our aims.

Objectives

  • To identify more closely our users and

              their needs and to respond to them

              positively. 

  • To identify problems caused by lack of 

              space at the company, staff and

              resources.

  • To pursue solutions through more

              efficient exploitation of existing space

              and to provide more capacity at the

              centres. 

  • To make our e-learning resources and

              training resources available online.

 

 This will involve:

  • Increasing the number of training 

              programmes and ensuring their

              continued relevance for people in the

              community.

  • Increasing the efficiency of e-learning

              delivery for all sectors.

  • Using up-to-date information 

              technology.

  • Playing a major part in developing

              business e-resources nationally and

              internationally.

  • Seeking membership of appropriate

              education bodies.

  • Raising funds in support of our 

              objectives.

  • Establishing, with priorities, a

              programme for our community 

              activities.

  • Implement “Build bridges of Culture”

              and international communications for  

              diversity training for business, 

              organisations and schools.
